The Life Purpose of The Shy Reveal
All I want for 2025 is to trust myself.
Have you ever felt so shy, inadequate, inferior to others?
Like there’s tension in your body?
Like you cannot be yourself?
I have for a long time, and that’s the reason I write.
In 2022, I had a sudden urge to express myself creatively, so I started a Medium account.
I had no idea. I just kept writing until I slowly realized there was a feeling I wanted to portray so badly. A feeling that kept me stuck for many years, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
Now, I think I found it.
I found the perfect word:

Inhibition: The Most Pervasive Syndrome
You haven’t committed a crime or anything serious. But still, you think there’s something wrong with you.
Let’s take a closer look:
Inhibition:a feeling of embarrassment or worry that prevents you from saying or doing what you want. (Source: Cambridge Dictionary)
As a human, you want other people to validate you. Everyone wants to be needed, to be included, to be loved. But when you have that hidden embarrassment, you think you don’t truly deserve it.
The problem? Inhibition feels bad. That’s because you integrated the lie that you’re insignificant, or even worse, repulsive.
That repulsion is like glue: Experience it in one area of your life, and watch it solidify into all your habits, your personality, and your recurring life patterns.
For example…
- Social inhibition: Deep inside you know you’re apart from the crowd. You’re an anomaly. More closed up, more self-conscious, more…weird. You have labelled yourself ‘a very shy person’. Meanwhile, you have the nagging sensation that you’re not truly seen.
- Physical inhibition: Right now, you could be tense. But that tension has become so normalized that you’re probably unconscious of it. Body posture, movement, and even chronic issues may be traced back to a bottled-up mindset.
- Creative inhibition: You were once a child. You were once excited. You had cool ideas and projects. But your fears won over your daydreams. You’re frustrated because you know there’s more to this thing we call ‘life’.
- Emotional inhibition: You’d rather do something (like overeating or internet scrolling) instead of feeling. These bad habits are serving you; otherwise, you wouldn’t be doing them. But they’re actually a resistance to being. If you don’t allow yourself to be sad, you won’t allow yourself to be happy.
- Intellectual inhibition: You want to expand your mind, but you‘re also afraid of learning. Learning happens when you’re figuring life on your own terms, with your own experience and opinions. Instead, you put your entire trust in others, thinking they know better than you.
If you recognize yourself there…
I want to tell you it’s okay.
Good News if You’re ‘Inhibited’.
You should open up more.
You’re too quiet.
Why are you restrained? etc.
Such were the words I received.
But they didn’t make me more confident.

I was covered in a glass globe.
I was a Daisy, and I thought I had to become a Rose. Or an Orchid. Or a Tulip.
I thought I had to do mental surgery so I could extract my inhibition away, and replace it with a ‘confident’ personality.
But that’s not me…
I’ve always been insecure, so I had to wear a filter in order to survive. Sure I was comfortable, but I wasn’t truly happy.
The sun, the clouds, the grass…I could see them, but I couldn’t feel them.
I hated the glass globe.
I tried to push it. I tried to analyze it. I tried to find a terrible circumstance that could justify it. I tried to accept that I was gonna live that way for the rest of my life.
But the more you think of an emotion, the stronger it gets.
Why do I have to keep fighting, or victimizing, or suppressing?
Inhibition is a part of me, and it has good intentions.
It wants to protect me.
I am the flower, not the glass globe.
I can still find joy in my ‘inhibition’.
Because if I’m fine with it, I can be fine without.
When I realize I no longer need my protection, it will go away.
I know the glass globe will be lifted, naturally.
Just like a flower blooms with no pressure.
I don’t know how, I don’t know when, I just know that it will, and that’s the highest level of trust I will dedicate my life to.

The sun, the clouds, the grass…I can already feel them.
I am already protected by them.

So here’s my unpopular opinion:
You don’t have to trust yourself.
You already have it within you.
You can feel inhibited and confident, and included, and loved.
Life is a journey full of surprises. You will face emotional challenges. You will feel low, and you will feel high. Day by day, you will learn about yourself. And when you realize you’re already beautiful, radiant, and full of possibilities…
You trust yourself more.
Naturally.
The Other Side of Inhibition
If you have inhibition, you also have something called intuition.
I believe they’re two sides of the same coin.

Intuition
an ability to understand or know something immediately based on your feelings rather than facts. (Source: Cambridge Dictionary)
I want to trust myself. Not by force, not by shame of being ‘unconfident’, but because I have the intuition. I have the wisdom to decide what my life will be.
And I wish the same for you.
Because you are the flower, not the glass globe.
My little project for 2025:
Each month, I’ll be publishing a special article about the shy reveal (a.k.a the flower of your mental glass globe).
So by the end of the year, you’ll get 12 articles about unforced, spontaneous, intuitive self-trust.
I also created a 2025 calendar, printed it, and pasted it on my wall. Each month represents a symbol, and each symbol is linked to the theme of self-trust.
If you want the same calendar, you can download it here for free:

2024 was a year of trust.
Looking forward to the next… :)

Thank you for reading! ✿
