you think change *has* to be painful. That it *has* to invoke blood, sweat, and tears. And well, it’s true: losing your old self implies death. If you identify too much with the past, then ‘killing it’ is going to hurt. But if you remain the same forever, you’re also dying. It’s a lose-lose situation. Sometimes, I wonder if I could have mental surgery. Imagine waking up so refreshed, so full of energy. In fact, the new self is not **new**. It’s quite old, actually. It’s who you were truly meant to be. It was begging you to *be* since childhood. Sometimes, wisdom is not acquired; it’s forgotten as we get older. You don’t want to become someone else. Maybe you still want your personality, your sensitivity, your quirks, dreams, and creativity. In case no one told you: You’re allowed to take up more space. You’re allowed to be *more* of yourself. — Paperbag --- **Thank you for reading! ✿** You’ve reached the fifth symbol: ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/25/41/2541acf5-75ea-41ae-8dd9-9ede43988ecc/content/images/2026/09/Tremilie_57_FaceSymbol.png) **Access the other symbols:** [**SPIRAL**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/i-dream-therefore-i-am/) **//** [**KEY**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/how-to-actually-make-a-decision/) **//** [**DIAMOND**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/no-friends-you-were-meant-to-be-alone/) **//** [**HEART**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/when-youre-in-love/) **//** FACE **//** [**MUSIC**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/rest-in-peace-my-future-self/) [**BIRD**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/the-anxiety-of-looking-awkward/) **//** [**CLOVER**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/i-didnt-come-here-by-coincidence/) **//** [**TEAR**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/if-you-stop-crying-well-love-you/) **//** [**CLOUD**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/you-dont-have-to-trust-yourself/) **//** [**STAR**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/how-to-become-a-superstar-writer/) // [**CANDY**](https://www.theshyreveal.com/im-addicted-to-being-a-good-person/) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/25/41/2541acf5-75ea-41ae-8dd9-9ede43988ecc/content/images/2026/09/Symbols_Preview-7.png)
